Mosquito Control
Keep Unwanted Pests Out Of Your Yard
Take back your yard. We treat breeding sites and foliage to control larvae and adult mosquitoes and offer recommendations to help reduce their activity. Breeding sites include:
- around doors, windows, garage doors and eaves
- under patio covers
- flower plates
- improperly draining gutters
- evaporative cooling units
- architectural features and walls that limit wind
- dense foliage
- ponds, fountains and birdbaths
- tree wells and tree holes
- low-lying sprinkler heads
- wading pools and swimming pools
Four Seasons Approach
You may see creepy crawlers only during certain of the year, but that’s deceptive. Depending on the season, different pests are active in and around homes seeking shelter, food and water. As temperatures rise and fall, pest activities change. The threat of bugs is always present, but Mountaineer’s Four Seasons Protection Plan is a thorough approach that uses different application techniques and materials. Results are guaranteed.
Spring, summer, and fall treatments focus on your home’s exterior, where insects and other pests live and breed. This keeps bugs and rodents from getting inside. As winter approaches, we move indoors to inspect the attic, plumbing accesses and areas known to harbor pests. But if they come back between our visits, Mountaineer will, too, free of charge.
Got Mosquitoes? Call Mountaineer Pest Control Services
Mountaineer inspects your home’s exterior, looking closely for areas where mosquitoes are likely to breed. That‘s important. In just four days, one mosquito can multiply into 400. Stagnant or standing water is an obvious cesspool, but mosquitoes also are drawn to places that hold slight moisture such as sprinkler heads and dirty gutters.
Our technicians apply liquid and granule treatments to high moisture areas to kill larvae, tiny wigglers that live at the water’s surface. We sanitize high traffic areas and, when necessary, remove obvious breeding grounds.
We also use a “mosquito catcher” that attracts pregnant females — the sex that sucks blood. In search of blood meal, she flies to the trap and gets caught inside. Eventually, mosquitoes will avoid biting in the areas around the home where the mosquito catcher is present.
Spring
Insects mate in spring. To slow reproduction we target the home’s exterior, where insects live and breed, to kill the colonies and establish long-term protection. Steps include:
- Removing spider webs
- Applying a chemical dust to entry points, including utility boxes and attic access points
- Treating exterior hot spots, including window and door frames, that are potential harbor sites and food sources
- Power treating along the home’s foundation and in landscape features
- Placing granular bait for ant larvae and workers, crickets and roaches
- Applying granular ant bait to slow reproduction
Summer
Insects eat during the summer, and because they move faster this time of year, they fear predators less. Mountaineer matches their speed with fast-acting products that slow them down and take them out. We also:
- Remove spider webs and apply repellent
- Treat exterior entry points and hot spots
- Power treat along paved surfaces and landscape features, including walkways
- Spread granules in thick grass, mulch, rock beds, decorative bark and similar areas
- Apply granular baits to decrease insect reproduction
Fall
Young insects are maturing, and all pests are building up reserves for the winter. They also are looking for hiding places. Your home can be one of them. To keep pests out, we barricade the perimeter by caulking window frames and sealing doors. Other defensive strategies include:
- Removing spider webs
- Applying a chemical dust to entry points, including utility boxes and attic access points
- Treating exterior hot spots, including window and door frames, that could provide shelter or food
- Spreading granules in thick grass, mulch, rock beds, decorative bark and similar areas
- Placing rodent monitoring stations in problem areas as needed
Winter
It’s cold outside, and insects are trying hard to get indoors, where they can hide until spring. We drive them out with our “green” pest control techniques. Our environmentally friendly approach includes using natural enemies to trap and eradicate pests. We use targeted pesticide applications and botanical repellants. Ours is a long-term and preventative approach known throughout the industry as Integrated Pest Management (IPM). We also:
- Wipe away webs inside
- Apply a chemical dust inside cracks and crevices, including baseboards and wall plates
- Treat attics and in crawl spaces and closets
- Place ant and roach bait stations under kitchen and bathroom sinks
- Place insect monitoring stations in critical areas
- Treat around doors, windows and eaves
Why Do You Recommend The Advance Termite Bait System?
It’s an improvement over first-generation bait systems. Early systems offered a new way to control termites that was more aggressive at attacking the colony, yet less invasive than old-time methods. But those systems couldn’t control termites quickly and were difficult to service by pest professionals. Homeowners weren’t happy. The Advance Termite Bait System has turned things around with features like these:
- Faster hits. Termites are usually drawn to feeding stations within 15 to 45 days of installation.
- Colony elimination. The Advance Termite Bait System offers fast, effective colony kills in as little as 120 days.
- Bait load. A large container holds more bait to eliminate colonies faster. Plus, the bait is compressed to deliver maximum killing power in less space.
- Low profile. The system sits at soil level, much like a sprinkler head, which makes it less visible. Its low profile causes less interference with lawn equipment and pets.
- Tasty to termites. Multiple studies show that termites prefer the trademarked Puri-Cell food source over the wood in your home.
- The Advance Termite Bait System destroys all termites, even the queen. There’s no drilling into your foundation or trenching around your home, and when properly maintained, the system will protect your home indefinitely.
